the blog about the “10 ways to become an SEO gang-banger”

Okay, so anyone can look at some analytics and “decipher” where your traffic is coming from and what is popular with your posts on twitter, FB or how your own blog is being received but is that information always consistent? No. Lets be honest here, the majority of SEO will only bring in an increase of 2-4% of traffic to your site. So is SEO bullshit? Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t. So how do you get your website to grow? This is the tricky part. Most companies fizzle out after this stage or abandoned the processes of social media and if they do then it’s no surprise that failure is or will be associated with their business.

SEO for life?

You need to be viral with everything (you produce) that is meant to be out in the public. Lend your blog to your own voice and give it character. Leave the academic papers out of a place where people come to read short quips on your take of the new “Like It” button. The majority of people surfing the net have the attention span of a squirrel, including myself….look porn!..

..anyways you get the point. Great character leaves impressions, someone is going to remember the blog about the “10 ways to become an SEO gangbanger” then the button down version of how to optimize your boring site – no offense (enter boring site here).

Failure is Funny

Make fun of your failed attempts and make that viral. Most companies don’t get it right the first time around – so let’s show that growth. Make a YouTube channel, an alternative Twitter or FB page and post all the bizarro-biz-opps that either failed to see the light of day or just plain bombed. People will get a good laugh when you show them how you laughed at yourself and then found a solution to your own bad ideas. This will show faith in growth, innovation and progress.

Alternative methods will get you noticed. Going against the grain will show you doors that weren’t previously built. If you have the uneasy feeling in your stomach, it usually means you skipped town without telling your P.O. or maybe…just maybe…you’re on the track to success.

Rest assured that you or our company will encounter a bad review from a product site or a not so flattering testimonial from a customer. These things are bound to happen to everyone once in a while and its bound to show up on your search ranking pages. Unless you are running a shady enterprise you really have nothing to worry about. Your services or product may not work for everyone and such is life.

So what do we do then when we encounter a bashing or a good roe of slighted words? Suck it up! We should move past it and burry it with positive reviews and with blogs and more blogs. You will now start producing content that may address some of the issues that were in those negative reviews in a very subtle way and provide a solution without a regaling of those reprehensible chatterings.

One thing not to do is to put a search of yourself in relation to these poor reviews; this is will only make matters worse. BUT you will need to be pro-active and monitor the sites that are hosting these scurrilous rantings and continue to move past it by creating you’re a positive presence around your company. It’s extremely time consuming but imperative to make a mark using social media tools to sweep the unfavorable mentionings under the “e-rug”. Here are a couple of sites to reassure yourself with some positive press and use some Online Reputation Management Skills.

Create a business profile with LinkedIn

Post pictures of your happy customers on flickr

Claim your identity with Naymz

Create a Wiki to share your customers share experiences – Wetpaint

Remember, your web presence is a social science. It is a lot of work but getting beyond that one or two bad reviews are essential and not the start of the end for your company. Keep producing your best and it will come back to you. Like that movie “Pay it Forward”…well that kid got stabbed in the end but the principle is what was important and is key to a success full enterprise.

Online Reputation Management has become an integral part of conducting business over the Internet. With a vast array of information available online, it can be difficult to be aware of all the content being posted about your company. An online reputation can easily turn sour if it is not tended to, but numerous marketing benefits can be derived through proper management. Your company’s online reputation is a reflection of the community’s opinion about your business, and future clients will often review the prior experiences of others to better understand your company. Online Reputation Management must be approached preemptively because online communities have the ability to alter brand image in a very short amount of time. This is because the feedback in these communities is derived from direct experiences with your company. The most effective way to manage your online reputation is through continuous social media research.

This includes carefully monitoring the different viral blogging communities that exist in sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, etc. Social media sites allow participants to discuss products/services and provide reviews for one another. In these independent discussion forums, viral marketing of your brand can be accomplished by those who use and then discuss your product. However, your company must be ready to integrate its marketing strategy and image around the online perception it receives. At a comparatively inexpensive cost from traditional advertising, marketing with online reputation management can dramatically heighten brand awareness for your company.

At Reach Out Creative, we specialize in effective Online Reputation Management by carefully utilizing social media tools. For more information about how you can effectively manage your online reputation, please visit Reach Out Creative.
